Ken Fredrickson

Ken Fredrickson is a member of the elite International Court of Master Sommeliers and he the Founder of Tenzing Wine and Spirits an artisanal importer and wholesaler in Chicago Illinois.

Fredrickson reached the ranks of Master Sommelier after working with critical acclaimed programs at Charlie Trotter's in Chicago and Wolfgang Puck, at Spago and Chinois.

Most recently, Fredrickson led an investment group to acquire a majority interest in the Brewer-Clifton Winery located in Santa Barbara County California. The winery is 100% Estate with 65 acres under vine. Concentrating on just Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Brewer-Clifton Winery has been reviewed in 2015 as the Robb Reports “Best American Pinot Noir” and the winery reached #8 in Wine Spectator’s top 100 wines of 2014. Fredrickson successfully sold the winery in May of 2017 to Jackson Family Wines.

Fredrickson is also an active partner in Tokiwa Imports specializing in the importation and distribution of Japanese Whisky and Gin. Tokiwa is the exclusive North American agent for all family owned Japanese whisky producers.

Fredrickson’s adventurous spirit and passion for food and drink have led to extensive international travel. Ken enjoys collecting and drinking wine and he is also an amateur triathlete. Completing his first full distance ironman in Louisville KY in August of 2013. His collective performance has awarded him an Ironman All World Athlete Silver Medal. In 2013 Ken was the largest individual fund raiser worldwide for the Ironman Foundation surpassing $50,000.00 in support of the Mayo Clinic’s research in mood related illness.

As one of 160 Master Sommeliers in the United States, Fredrickson has judged many wine competitions and participated in many National and International Wine events. Each year Ken captains a team of Sommelier cyclist to raise awareness and money to end childhood hunger in America. Team SommCycle made up of just 10 riders has a goal to raise more than $50,000 annually for the No Kid Hungry Share our Strength platform. He also focuses his charitable efforts with Pilot Light Chicago promoting nutritional advancements in the Chicago Public Schools through education.
